Penn Wood Girls' Track & Field Picks University of Houston
Lansdowne, PA (March 25, 2009)

On Friday, March 27th at 1.00 p.m., Scholar Athlete BrittanyWallace of Yeadon, a Penn Wood High School senior, announced her college selection and signed a Track and Field Letter of Intent. In the auditorium at Penn Wood High School on Friday afternoon, her family, coach, athletic director, principal, superintendent, school board members, teachers, colleagues, and friends found out she choose a full scholarship at the University of Houston -where PennWood Class of 1985 graduate and Olympic gold medalist Leroy Burrell is Head Coach.

Brittany Wallace is the 2009 Indoor State Champion in the 400-meter dash, a High School Track & Field All-American, and a Delco Chapter of the PA Sports Hall of Fame Student Athlete. As a sophomore, Ms. Wallace was the 200-meter Indoor State Champion, and now ranks 4th in the state in that category. She is also a member of Penn Wood's 4x400 relay team - one of the fastest indoor relay teams in the country this year.

Academically, Brittany Wallace is ranked ninth in the Penn Wood High School Class of 2009. She is a member of the National Honor Society and was named Student of the Month by the LansdowneIUpper Darby Rotary Club.

Ms. Wallace is also an active participant in Pathfinders, through which she does community service, marches in anti-drug rallies, and receives leadership training.
