Penn Wood's Honors Physics Students to Host Global Warming Conference
A group of students in Dr. Sebastian Interlandi's Honors Physics class at the Penn Wood High School-Green Avenue Campus will host a Global Warming Conference that will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The Conference is open to students, teachers, members of the community, science experts, and others interested in learning about science and climate change.
The Global Warming Conference, which will be held at Penn Wood High School-Green Avenue Campus, will be an open forum where attendees may ask questions, view presentations and videos, and play interactive games. The goal of the Conference is to "empower citizens with the knowledge needed to move our world toward a sustainable system of energy."
Selected sessions include information about climate change, available career and business opportunities for those interested in minimizing carbon emissions, and web-based tools and resources that can be used to evaluate global warming. Students will also share their designs for a Penn Wood solar-powered classroom and provide a viewing of former Vice President Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth.
